When I travel I like to take photos of doors and doorways. They are the welcoming point of a building and they are a personality statement of the building and its owners (past or current).
Last year my teen daughter and I went out traveling for 6 weeks in China and Sweden. Totally awesome trip. Both of those countries have extremely beautiful and interesting doors and I managed to find some real treasures to photograph.
The Swedish doors are in Stockholm city and in the countryside. The Chinese doors are in Beijing, in an ancient part of the city we stayed in, which has thankfully not been flattened.
Some gorgeous doors in Sweden.

Some fantastic doors in Beijing, China.

Here at Into the Clearing you can find my healthy recipes and my articles about living simpler and slower. Life doesn't have to be a chaotic race. I live with my family in Australia but we are in the process of moving back to Sweden. We have also lived in Asia, which was fantastic. Hard to get over.
While raising our four children I focussed on making home cozy but also very functional so it would be calm. A lot of moves across suburbs, states and countries forces you to be even more serious about these things. You need to travel light but you need your kids to feel at home.
I hope that when you visit Into The Clearing you find ideas to make a home that is a haven. A calendar that isn't manic. And food that is going to nourish your body and gut.
